EdTech Austria Fellowship

The four-month fellowship program supports EdTech enthusiasts in developing innovations in the EdTech sector in Austria, as well as in initial testing and validation. It’s an add-on to existing startup programs, designed to prepare your products for entry into the education market in the best possible way.

In brief:

• Four-month fellowship program – start in February 2026
• For EdTech enthusiasts or early-stage startup ideas
• Program includes a mix of an in-person kickoff event, Peer Learning formats, online modules, and a final event at the EdTech Austria Summit
• Individual support provided by a coach, program managers, and experienced mentors
• Participation is free, and EdTech Austria does not take equity in the startup
• The program is implemented by EdTech Austria and funded by the Federal Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism

Program Structure

The fellowship program is based on four pillars:

• EdTech Know-how: In the online modules, our experts provide essential knowledge on the education market, the EdTech ecosystem, innovation and trends, educational models, market fit, and more!
• Mentoring & Coaching: Mentoring connects you with with experienced EdTech professionals who support you with their knowledge, network, and feedback, acting as both critics and motivators. The shared goal: bringing your EdTech ideas to life. Our EdTech coaches will provide you with individual support over a period of four months as you implement the workshop content, take strategic and operational steps in your company’s development, and pursue your personal development.
• Peer learning: Learning from and with each other is a top priority in the EdTech Fellowship. Regular exchange formats allow you to support each other, discuss current challenges, receive feedback, and make valuable contacts.
• Testing and Validation: Test your educational innovation and receive valuable feedback from users! Potential collaboration partners include companies, educational institutions, educators, students, and research organizations.

Who Can Participate?

Our fellowship program is aimed at EdTech enthusiasts with an entrepreneurial mindset and an early-stage business idea. Participants can be aspiring startups or individuals from the educational field, whether in school, continuing education, vocational training, or lifelong learning.

How to apply:

1. Fill out the online application form – link will follow when applications open on December 20, 2025
2. Submit an application video: Introduce yourself or your team in a one-minute video!

Timeline for the secound round in 2026:

• Application period: December 20, 2025, to January 25, 2026
• Notification of acceptance or rejection: February 6, 2026
• Program duration: February to May 2026 

For all participants, the following mandatory dates apply – please ensure you are available on these dates when submitting your application:

• Friday, February 27 to Saturday, February 28: Kickoff event in-person: The programme includes getting to know each other, an introduction to the testing methodology from our partner Transcend, a mentor match and first lectures.
• Online Modules: each from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM

  • Date to follow: Market opportunities and strategies for success
  • Date to follow: How educational technologies can support learning
  • Date to follow: User-centered design and learning experience design
  • Date to follow: to be announced
• June 1 & 2, 2026: Closing event of the Fellowship Program and EdTech Showcasing Area at the EdTech Austria Summit
